GEO Circle Lens – Angel Blue

by Reika on December 18, 2010

GEO circle lens are probably the most popular and most talked about circle lenses on the internet. Due to my curious nature, I always like to try overly hyped products. With no exception I have purchased quite a few GEO circle lenses in the past.

The GEO Angel blue makes my eyes appear too Big..almost too anime-sque. I kinda freaked out the first time I put them on, I was so sure people from miles away could spot my big dark blue eyes. These lenses are very opaque and I have a mixed feeling about opaque circle lenses. They do make me look very dolly-ish, and if you like taking pictures of yourself, opaque lenses are the best accessory to use to make your eyes pop. However they can come across as too fake in real life. I personally would never wear them out with new friends, as I can’t imagine how freaked out they will be.

As for the color, the blue tone is very subtle in natural light, it is more of black color with a hint of blue.

These lenses are great for photos, the blue tone really stands out when taking with flash.

Overall the GEO Angel Blue is not bad but it is not the best I have tried, as there are more and more brands coming up with better designs and are far more comfortable to wear. Have I mentioned I cannot wear the GEO angel blue for more than 4 hours…

MAC False Eyelashes Review

by Reika on December 16, 2010

MAC false eyelashes used to be my staples back in the old days when cheap but good quality false eyelashes were not readily available. My favorite style is Mac 32, at the time I bought them, they came in 2 different lengths, long and short. (however I am not sure if they are still making MAC false eyelash 32 in different lengths ). The lady at the MAC counter had a look at my eyelashes and suggested me the short once straight away..:-( It wasn’t nice to hear but I took her advice and I’m glad I did. It looked really flattering on me, just exactly as what MAC describes it on their site: natural length combined with bundles of lashes to give extra fullness.

This is how the short MAC 32 lashes look on me.

I also bought the long version of MAC 32 by mistake ones, and it was a Big Mistake. As you can see from the picture below, don’t they look like spider legs on me?!

Overall MAC false eyelashes are very comfortable to wear and does enhance your natural lashes beautifully if you pick the right style. The band is very soft and flexible and conform to the shape of your eyes as they are all hand made. Also I find MAC false eyelashes last a longer time than that of cheaper brands.

Shu Uemura False Eyelashes – Holiday 2010

by Reika on December 12, 2010

As soon as I saw the the promo pictures from Shu Uemura’s 2010 Holiday Collection in collaboration with Aya Takano, I was instantly drawn to the super cute baby doll looking models. I knew I had to buy everything they used to create the look of the girl on the left!! In terms of false eyelashes, the Magical Windfalls Partial False eyelashes is what she wore in the ad. it is designed to enhance the eyes for a dolly look which is exactly what I am after.

These lashes are ridiculously expensive, I think I have paid $50 for them in Australia, however in my opinion they worth every single penny because Shu Uemura makes the best false eyelashes! When I saw the lashes through the box, I really thought they were single stripes of lashes on an invisible band, I was wrong! They were all partial lashes (how stupid I was, I should have known by the name) You can either wear them individually or all together to create the perfect baby doll look you like. If you are daring, you can even wear a shorter piece on the outer corner of your lower lash line just like the girl in the ad.

To my surprise, these are pretty natural looking false eyelashes on me. They are only a bit longer than my natural lashes, To recreate the look, I only wore 4 pieces on each of my upper lash lines and the last one on my lower lash line in the pictures.

I own so many lashes, but this truly is the most unique style I have in my collection. I cannot find any dupes for it.

NEO Glamour Series – Gray

by Reika on December 8, 2010

As much as I love the brown and the green ones from the NEO Glamour series, I have to say NEO glamour gray is quite a let down for me. The gray lens has the same pattern as the others, it is a tri tone of gray and brown with the outer ring in a sunburst design, which gives a very natural enlargement effect.

The first time I wore these, my instant reaction was ‘Oh no I looked weird”. They just don’t look natural on me, and they make me look like I have eye disease in day light. (if you have seen people with glaucoma eye condition, you will know what I am talking about!)

Occasionally, I do reach for this lens when I wear a strong smoky eye makeup out in the evening. For some reason they complement each other really well as the look of light gray iris balances out the black smoky makeup.

Overall I wouldn’t recommend this lens, they might look alright in pictures however they do appear quite oddly unnatural in real life.

False Eyelashes for Dolly Eyes

by Reika on December 7, 2010

Have you ever seen a cute barbie doll with short, sparse and straight lashes? NO! Other than circle lens, false eyelashes are probably the most essential accessory to create a dolly eyes look. It is amazing how much difference they can make to your eyes when the right style is worn. Collecting false lashes is just as addictive as collecting circle lenses as there are so many styles to choose from, each of them gives a very different effect. I will show you them all in my future false lashes review posts. Here is a snapshot of the lashes I am currently obsessed with :-)

Dolly eyes false eyelashes

What I love about wearing fake eyelashes is that I can “re-shape” my eyes based on the style I choose. These are my absolute favorites to create a babydoll eyes look:

This pair featured in the pic below has fuller lashes in the middle, they are designed to make your eyes appear rounder.

Dolly eyes false eyelashes

This lash really elongates my eye as the lashes are fuller and longer at one end.Dolly eyes false eyelashes

I am Obsessed with corner lashes now. I can talk about it all day long, so I will do a full post on how amazing they are later on.

Lastly, a wispy, almost feather like texture lash is an all rounder to give an innocent dolly eyes look.

NEO GLAMOUR SERIES – Brown

by Reika on December 2, 2010

This is my second review for Neo glamour series. As I have mentioned in my previous post, I like this series a lot because they are so comfortable to wear and enlarges the appearance of my eyes in a natural way but adding a hint of color which makes my eyes stand out more. To me, this is one of the MUST HAVE circle lens because our beautiful Angelababy likes to wear them as well.

AngelaBaby in NEO Brown

The NEO in Brown is another easy to wear shade. It is a trio-tone light brown. As you can see in the pic below, it has 3 different shades of brown which mimics the look of a real iris. When I wear them out in the day, people can hardly tell I am wearing colored lenses. They just thought I have naturally light brown eyes! How amazing is that?!

Lens Description:

Lens Type: 1 Year

DIA: 14.2mm

Thickness: 0.028mm

Base Curve: 8.6mm

Water content: 45%

I am always on the quest for the most perfect brown circle lens. NEO glamour in brown is pretty close to my holy grail, (but not yet…) When I compare them with other light brown circle lenses I have, such as GEO Nudy Brown. Neo glamour brown blends in with my natural eye color so much better, but still managed to lighten up my naturally dark brown eyes to light brown beautifully.

Today I chose to wear a pair of really natural looking lashes, they look like that (see pic below).  I think they are perfect for day time wear.
